The Process
We do everything we can to make the clients experience of using a consultant simple, we do all the thinking from design work to the filling out of forms, all we ask from the clients are their opinions and ideas. The process is simple. We ask what you desire and we do the rest.
Following your initial contact, we will arrange for a free consultation and appraisal of your proposed works, at a time best suited to you. Your needs will be discussed and an insight into the way Home Design works will be discussed.
From the appraisal, a summary of our terms and conditions along with a no obligation quote will be posted to you.
A full measure of your property and surrounding land will be taken, photographs of the building to establish details such as brick and materials in the existing building to match these in the proposed.
Our experienced designers and technicians have a real feel and inspiration for their creation, and this experience has allowed them to use space, design and practicality to create the perfect projects to suit client needs and specification, taking into account their lifestyle, and the type of interior environment and space they require. This is put on paper, with the aid of mood boards, sketches, 3D walk through videos, which clients can easily understand, these drawings can be changed as many times as needed until the client is happy, more often than not our clients are satisfied with our initial designs. We usually estimate the hours we will put towards the feasibility stage, this will be advised at the initial meeting, where clients have an idea of their requirements the costs can be reduced as fewer company hours will be utilised.
Upon completion of the drawings the client will have the opportunity to assess the initial design, and comment on any amendments if necessary, only after client consent will they be submitted to the planning authority or any third party.
Applications are submitted to local authority or any other relevant third party, any correspondence thereon will be between HDC and the third party, this allows our clients to continue with their day-to-day business content that we are working upon their behalf.
Seventh step: Details
Once the initial planning has been approved many of our previous clients have requested a set of working drawings package, these are detailed, showing all aspects of the build, and specified finishes and fittings. Typically a working drawings package will include client specification that will include details from floor finishes, lighting arrangements, and home automation etc. This allows the client to be sure that they have included everything in their project they anticipated, we source products from recommended and reputable traders, ensuring our client benefits from both quality and value for money.
The package will also include Construction information, which complies with the approved documents, British standards and NHBC ensuring the client the build is safe, structurally and thermally sound. The package is designed in a manual format, to allow a reference point for the construction team, to work by, the high level of information allows the build to be carried out more time efficiently.
As part of the design and build package we offer a site management service, where by a consultant will attend works in progress at critical stages throughout the construction phase, ensuring that drawing specification is met, and also ensuring all third party queries are up to date and resolved.
Your consultant can help you with any part of the building process that you feel would benefit from a professional opinion, all the way down to sourcing furniture and helping you to choose your kitchen taps.
